SCHOOL RE-OPENING JAN 2021 - GETTING READY AND COVID-19 SECURE
A phased reopening of schools nationally in October was halted by an increase in Covid-19 cases. Our Grade 4 Class pupils have continued to attend school, while the remainder have been supported with Distance Learning at home.
In preparation for a full re-opening in Januray 2021, we have taken steps to ensure that Barbara Academy is equipped to provide a Covid-secure environment by agreeing to fund additional expenses, including:-
Reconfiguration of existing buildings and purchase of additional desks etc to accommodate social distancing within classrooms
• Installation of additional water storage and handwashing facilities
• Provision of face masks – made by local Widow Groups, who benefit from the additional income
• Purchase of thermo guns to check the temperature of everyone entering the site

SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING - COVID-19 APPEAL MAY 2020
Thanks to the generosity of our existing donors, our appeal (see elsewhere for Project Proposal) was fully funded, which has enabled us to provide all the equipment needed to enable all pupils of Barbara Academy to access the government’s e-learning resources - including Radios and Smart Phones.
Our Teachers, who continue to be paid, also provide written learning resources and to visit pupils at home to guide them in the use of these online and offline resources.
The Feeding Programme - with food collected from the school for consumption at home - continues to ensure that all pupils are adequately nourished
